You can also dip any solid colored (1 red and 1 blue will turn into purple) napkins into clear water. The dye used in napkins will dissolve in the water after a few minutes ... I do this to match the flowers in my vase. It's a nice decorating idea. I hope it helped. :)

- Mix sodium nitrite (NaNO2) (powder) with concentrated hydrochloric acid HCl (about 4M) and cool to less than 5 degrees C.


- Add to this phenylamine (aniline) to form a diazonium salt.


- Mix this with another aromatic compound -(e.g. phenol, phenylamine) to form an azo dye.





These give bright yellows, oranges and reds dependening on what aromatic compound is added, although the materials you require will need to be ordered from a local chemical supplier.
