Now they sell packs of dye powder, on which you read : ';egg dye';.

I wonder if I can use my liquid Blue Food color instead. It is in a small vial that looks like the Vanilla vials. Is it possible to color Easter eggs with liquid Food colors that are in small vials?
Yes you can...that is how it was done before the little powder capsules and discs.Just add a drop or two to a cup of hot water with a teaspoon of white vinegar. If you want more of a deeper color add a drop or two more.Is it possible to color Easter eggs with liquid Food colors that are in small vials?
Absolutely! This is what my mother used when I was a kid. The four-color food dye kits have recipes on the box about how much water, how much vinegar and how many drops of each color you need to make colors like purple, orange, and lime green. (It's much cheaper than the powdered egg dye kits, too!)
Yes. For best results, mix it with a weak acid like vinegar or lemon juice. This creates small pits in the egg shell for the dye to stick too.
Yes, just pour it over the egg. It makes a nice ';splatter effect.'; Or tape the egg to create contrasting color.
For Coloring Eggs with food colors: Add 1 tsp. vinegar and 20 drops of desired color to 1/2 cup boiling water. Dip hard-cooked eggs about 5 minutes or longer. After color dries, it will not rub off. For other colors, see the following colors %26amp; number of drops required:

Orange Sunset: 17 yellow + 3 red

Raspberry 14 red + 6 blue

Purple 15 blue + 5 red

Jungle Green 14 green + 6 yellow

Watermelon Red 25 red + 2 blue

Teal 15 green + 5 blue
